• For checking currency exchange rates in Belarus, consult websites like myfin.by or bank24.by for up-to-date information on rates at exchange offices. Note that exchange rates offered by Belarusian banks might differ for Belarusian citizens compared to foreigners, with potentially higher rates for non-residents.
• Payment via Apple Pay with Belarusian cards may be subject to varying commission rates. Using a Russian MIR card (if available and accepted) or a card from a bank like VTB might be a more straightforward option, especially if international transaction fees are a concern. It is recommended to check with your bank and local merchants for accepted payment methods and associated fees.
• The 'Oplati' app is a payment service used in Belarus. To pay for a second person or make other transactions, users typically need to scan a QR code or enter a garage number associated with the service or recipient. The app interface guides users through selecting the quantity or recipient before confirming the payment. The app supports transfers to other Belarusian bank cards and potentially to Russian banks (like Sberbank) via the ERIP system, though direct transfers might have specific procedures or limitations.
• SBP (Faster Payments System) does not function in Belarus. Linking Russian Mir cards to a Belarusian ruble account is currently only supported by Alpha-Bank and T-Bank; VTB has discontinued this feature. For cash withdrawals, use ATMs of partner banks such as Belagroprombank, Belarusbank, BelVEB, Priorbank, and Sber Bank to avoid extra fees.

However, note that major cash exchanges of large sums (e.g., over 1M RUB) may be limited by ATM withdrawal caps.
• To obtain Belarusian rubles in Moscow before traveling to Belarus, consider using Transstroibank, which may allow withdrawals and payments using a MIR card.
• Russian citizens can obtain Mastercard/Visa cards in Belarus (e.g., Technobank). Process: order cards (can be non-personalized for faster receipt), register using a Russian phone number. Costs include opening fee. Virtual BelCard accounts are often available for free. Transfers from Russia can be made via card number or phone number depending on the bank.
• Payments for Belarusian services (utilities, mobile providers like A1) can be made directly via Russian banking apps (e.g., Sberbank) by searching for 'Pay A1 Belarus' or using the 'ERIP' service. Direct transfers between Russian and Belarusian cards are generally not possible.

Belarusbank ATMs typically allow cash withdrawals from Russian 'Mir' cards without transaction fees (check current individual bank limits).
• Withdrawing cash in Belarus with Russian cards: VTB charges 4% (min 300 RUB) for withdrawals. Ozon Bank cards are currently recommended as a cost-effective alternative for cash withdrawals (free from 3,000 RUB). Belarusbank ATMs are frequently used to avoid additional local withdrawal fees.
