• Foreigners without an IIN (Individual Identification Number) face difficulties purchasing internal train tickets in Kazakhstan online. Both Kazakhstani platforms (like KTZh) and the Russian RZD application (when accessed outside Russia) often require an IIN, even if an option to bypass it is presented. The most reliable method for purchasing tickets without an IIN is directly at the ticket counter (касса).
• The road conditions on the route from Uralsk to Inder in Kazakhstan vary. The section along the right bank of the river is reported as poorly maintained, with ongoing repairs in places. The route along the left bank after Inder is also undergoing repairs. Approximately 20 km of gravel road is present before reaching Astrakhan, after which the road conditions improve.

• Citizens of the Russian Federation can travel to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan using a domestic internal passport under EAEU agreements. However, border guards retain discretionary authority to deny entry based on document condition or suspicion. It is highly recommended to use international biometric passports (zagranpassport) to avoid complications. Traveling from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan with a domestic passport may be scrutinized as third-party transit. Minors under 14 should ideally have their own passport, although a birth certificate with citizenship proof is technically permissible for certain border crossings.
• When transiting through Almaty, Kazakhstan, travelers with children may be asked to present children's birth certificates. It is advisable to carry all relevant documentation for accompanying minors to avoid potential issues or delays at immigration.
• Individuals with a travel ban due to debt in Kazakhstan are prohibited from international travel, including flights to Aktau. They will be stopped at border control and denied departure.
